From the Desk of the Executive Director
It may seem to the layperson that little is being done about the opiate epidemic that NYS is experiencing. New York State OASAS, Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, has multiple initiatives to help New Yorkers get free from the bonds of Substance Use Disorder and maintain recovery for the rest of their lives. Request For Proposals are in process for the development of Clubhouses for Young People and Recovery Community and Outreach Centers for everyone. The grantees will be expected to open these facilities 6 months after announcement of the awards. Based on this initiative, we will be seeing changes in our area of NY sometime in 2016.
